Artist Statement

As a painter I am constantly finding myself trying to walk the line between the beauty of reality and the beauty of invention. I want it all, the sensuousness and mystery of  paint, color and  shape just for their own sake and the same sensuousness and mystery that takes place as candlelight falls over the human form or across a white tablecloth or the grace and elegance of a horse at full gallop. I want to take all this and still suggest ambiguous stories, dreams or emotions that can become personal interpretations about life by the viewer. I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to meld all this to my satisfaction but I suppose that’s what keeps me painting.
